Wendy (Weihui) Li, Ph.D., MSAOM, is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist in Massachusetts and Director of Acupuncture Herbs & Beyond, a clinic to integrate ancient wisdom and modern technologies for better prevention and treatment of diseases. Wendy received her Master in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, got her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Tsinghua University in China. She has her PhD in biomedical engineering from Tulane University in Louisiana. Wendy worked as a research fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital, both teaching hospitals of Harvard Medical School. Wendy is a visionary healer. Her mission is to educate others on how ancient wisdom and modern medicine are coming together in the next round of healthcare revolution. Dr. Li believes that it will lead to a wider acceptance of integrated approaches to healthcare allowing all people to live longer, and healthier.
Chung-Kang Peng, Ph.D., is the Founding Director of the Center for Dynamical Biomarker at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. He was a senior faculty at Harvard Medical School, and is Distinguished Professor at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (Taiwan). The focus of his research has been in the field of fundamental theories and novel computational algorithms for characterizing physiological states in terms of their dynamical properties. As one of the world's leading scientists in physiologic signals analysis, his work has been cited more than 60,000 times. In the past decade, Professor Peng switched his research focus to Chinese Medicine with the belief that Chinese Medicine regards the whole body as a system and emphasizes on dynamics of the body.
Lifei Hou, Ph.D., has 15 years experience in both drug discovery and basic research focusing on inflammation and immune disorders. He currently holds the junior faculty position in Harvard Medical School and is Research Associate at Boston Children's Hospital. Dr. Hou also has extensive experience in Chinese herbal medicine and has the mission to explore the herbal worlds and seek effective treatment methods for immune system.
In 2015, New England School of Acupuncture in Newton was merged to MCPHS and moved to Worcester of MA. It leaves great Boston area having no acupuncture school. It brings challenges for students who want to study Chinese Medicine. So Dr. Li, Dr. Peng and Dr. Hou decided to fill the gap and started to prepare the founding of an acupuncture institute.
During the preparation, BACM identifies and acquires enthusiastic Chinese Medicine scholars, practitioners and benefitors to help the operation of the academy. They are Dr. Jing Fan, Dr. Yan Ma, Dr. Yajun Feng, Dr. Sharon Pailler, Dr. Zhenni Jin, Mrs. Monique Harrington, Sage Williams, Fan Yang, Yupun Munroe, Gina Li, Joyce Valte.
After a few years of preparation, BACM finally will start to enroll students in 2022. Here we are!
